When you’re prepping for the worst it’s a bit too easy to go overboard. The whole point of a bail out bag for EDC is to have the essentials on hand, not to take literally everything you could possibly need. Big bags filled with everything including the kitchen sink are too large and ungainly for rapid movement, and they also make you stand out as a target when things get desperate. That’s where the Helikon-Tex Bail Out Bag comes in handy: it’s purpose-built for low-profile EDC of the things you need to get through to safety in a bad situation.

The Helikon-Tex Bail Out Bag features a low-profile 25 liter capacity design that forces you to pare down to what you actually need in an emergency. Its YKK-zippered flat opening allows complete access to the interior, making packing and unpacking your survival gear a simple task. The suspension system built into the mesh back of the bag and the shoulder straps make carrying your gear long term less of a burden than with other bags. What’s unique about its design is its ability to transform from a backpack profile to a wide open attachment platform, customizable with a with a MOLLE/PALS-compatible interior panel along with a mesh pockets to segregate and organize your essentials. A large top handle lets you get a handle on the bag for quick movement without needing to put it on or zip it up again as a backpack, and if you find yourself in a vehicle, the bag itself transforms into a seat-back organizer for your essentials.

The tough tactical Cordura nylon material used in the bag helps it keep up with rough use, but to the untrained eye the bag doesn’t look like a traditional tactical bag at all. It lacks the telltale MOLLE-/PALS-compatible webbing found on the exterior of other bags (leaving it on the inside), and that lets you keep a more discreet profile especially in an urban environment. That subtle design also pairs well with the complementary beavertail satchel that attaches to the bag. Able to be used on its own, it’s a dedicated concealed carry bag that lets you carry the compact firearm of your choice along with extra magazines without sticking out like a sore thumb. Finally, an included padded seating mat attaches itself to the interior of the bag, always ready to make resting on rough terrain more comfortable.

And even if you’re not planning for the worst when looking for a new everyday carry bag, the low profile nature of the Helikon-Tex Bail Out Bag makes it well-suited for urban EDC. Check it out and pick out one of its six different colorways at the link below.
